Seattle July 12

Friday morning George and I left our place around 8:30 am to go pick up Nathan.  Then headed to Seattle.  We went straight to Facebook to meet up with Dorothy, Ed and Madeline.  Once we got there we went in to meet Roman (Madeline's boyfriend) for lunch.  From outside the building you can not tell that it is Facebook.  I guess that is for security reasons.  Ed stayed behind in the front lobby area, since Roman was only allowed to bring in 5 guests.  We had to go through security to get in to the area.  They have 2 main eating areas.  6th floor was pizzas, salad bar, build your own sandwich bar, a meat carving station, desserts, froyo station and a hot food daily special area.  Then the 9th floor had a grilled hamburger area and today was Mexican food day.  We wandered through both areas.  Once we all picked what we wanted we went up to the 9th floor to eat because the view was better.
There were some interest decorations around.

Deck area on the 9th floor.  It was too hot to eat out there.

The view of Union Lake.

When we were through eating we took a lunch down to Ed.  Then we walked to the Seattle biospheres.

From a distance we thought these were tiny houses but when we got closer we saw that it was a playground.

The biospheres.  There are 3 spheres clumped together.  They are built for Amazon.  They just opened in 2017.

We went inside.  This is the model of one of the spheres.  To actually get a tour of the building you have to sign up and pay.  We did not do that.
Beanbag chairs for anyone to enjoy.

There was a cool bar I would loved to have tried but maybe some other time.

We stopped at the MadArt Gallery, because they had an interesting art instillation by Beili Liu, titled "Each and Every."  It was created in response to the migrant crisis.

The artist was there.  Started with the baby clothes then she bleached them out.

We walked back toward Union Lake

Fun place to hang a hammock.

It was almost 4:30 pm by the time we got back to the car to head to Debbie's. Traffic was terrible.  We did not get to Debbie's until 7 pm.  Luckily she had a late lunch so we were not holding them up.  We just had cheese, crackers and fruit.  That was perfect.  We were still full from lunch.

The sun on the trees makes it look like fall colors.
