Tuesday

I lied.  Debbie and Joe did get up early to get to the airport, but mid morning we started getting calls from them.  Engine troubles.   So frustrating for them. While they were hanging out at the airport.  We had a nice breakfast with Jim, Pam and Linda. Then they headed off to the airport in a more leisurely fashion.

We headed out to go to the USS Constitution.  We took the T a few stops to Charlestown.

When we got to the museum of Bunker Hill, Nathan decided he wanted to climb to the top.  George and I stayed at the bottom and went to the museum instead.

There he is! It was 294 steps to the top!! 

We continued to follow the Freedom Trail to the USS Constitution.  

We got there around noon, just in time for a cannon to go off... and then another  ... 21 times.  Because of memorial day they do a 21 blast salute.  I took a little movie clip of one blast, but it did not do justice to the sound.  I jumped every time. There were some military personnel around and they saluted every time the cannon went off.  It was actually kind of meaningful.  

We were just about ready to go into the museum, when we got a call from Debbie and Joe.  Their flight was canceled completely.  They were rescheduled on a flight to leave tonight at 11:15.  ARGH.  Nathan called the Lyft ride and we took it to the Hyatt Hotel by the airport and Debbie and Joe got the shuttle there.  We met for lunch.  They were very frustrated. Joe had to cancel a bunch of stuff for work tomorrow and Debbie had to take a work phone call.  Once she was through with the phone call we took a Lyft back to our hotel.  We are getting spoiled with the Lyft.  So easy.  

Mostly we just hung out at the hotel.  Played some card games, talked, had a glass of wine.  It was a drizzly day out so it was had to get motivated to do anything.  At 7 pm we walked across the street to the Vintage Restaurant and Lounge.  We had a fabulous meal.  Nathan & I split a half bottle of Chianti Classico.  I had my steak.  

Joe had duck, he said that it was very good.

Debbie and Nathan had the mushroom ravioli and George ended out with 2 vegetable side dishes.  It was a very good meal.  

About 9:30, Nathan called the Lyft for them and they headed out to the airport yet again.  I sure hope everything goes OK this time.  

End of the day

We gathered in the library for a glass of wine and to talk about what we wanted to do.  No one wanted dinner.  So we decided that we would head over to the Hyatt where Sue was staying.  We took the water taxi across the bay.  That was fun.    

The water taxi went directly to they Hyatt pier so we could go to the Harborside Grill. 

We met up with Sue.  We ordered drinks and a few appetizers.  Then later Rachel, Andy and Timothy joined us.  George got the free shuttle frrom the airport to the Hyatt so he met us there as well.  It was very nice. 

We all headed back on the T to the hotel, for another glass of wine in the library.  The library is right across from the restaurant and bar so we could go in and get a drink and then sit in the library where it was more comfortable and quiet. 

Debbie  & Joe had an early morning flight so we did not see them again.

While we were waiting for lunch there was a buffet table with appetizers and some beverages,  Then they opened up the dining room.  Beautiful room.

They had salmon, chicken & a vegetarian pasta.  The salmon was the prettiest plate.

I did not get a picture that George and I were in with Beracah & Tuyen.

cutting the cake.  They were polite about feeding each other the cake.  But then they did an interesting thing.  They had had 2 jars out in the lobby, one was for Beracah and one was for Tuyen.  You could put money in the jars.  Whoever had the most money got cake in the face.  Tuyen very neatly spread icing on Beracah's face.

After the reception we split up again.  Jim's car went back to the airport and then they went back to the hotel.  We stopped a a park and walked a trail. It was pretty.  We did not walk very vigorously since we were still in our wedding garb

 We then took the car to a parking structure near the hotel.  Parking is expensive.  $15 for 40 minutes.  So George quickly changed and then headed back to the airport to turn in the car.
