Sunday, August 6, 2017

We had a leisurely morning, Then Joe made French Toast with bananas, strawberries and hand-whipped, whipped cream.  What a yummy way to start the day.  I was too interested in eating to remember to take a picture.  Debbie, George and I did the 3 mile loop.  Of course, we had to take pictures of the lake.

We had a tour of all the work that Joe has done on his cars and his ideas of what he plans to do.

We had a light salad for lunch and then we headed south.
We met the Singer gang at the Amazon.com building where Roman works.

We went up to the upper deck where we thought we would be able to see the plane fly over but we had just missed the show.

Roman is hiding behind Madeline.
We went to the UPS Waterfall Garden.  George works for UPS.

We then walked to Full Tilt Ice cream.  This is much better ice cream than Molly Moon's.  Then we walked along the waterfront to Pike Place.

We walked back to the car, our parking time was running out.

We headed south,  It was an uneventful drive with hardly any traffic.  We stopped at Jeremy's Farm to Table in Chehalis for dinner.  It was very good.

enough for lunch tomorrow as well

Saturday, Aug 5

We left Portland right after breakfast, around 8 am to head to the Seattle area. All of our nephews on George's side of the family are visiting Madeline, our niece.  So we decided to join them for a short visit.  We got to Redmond in time for lunch.  We walked to Bangkok Basil for Thai food.  It was very good.  So Madeline & Roman (her boyfriend), George, Robbie and Martin as well as George and me.  Quite a crowd. Robbie's girlfriend, Charisee was visiting another friend so she was not with us.

After lunch we drove to a lavender farm. When we got there we found that they were closed for a private party. Plan B - we went to Chateau Ste Michelle to go wine tasting.  That is a huge place.  Some of us did a tasting.   Than we wandered around on the grounds.  There were a lot of small parties and groups of people picnicking.

We thought we would check on the lavender farm again, so I called them. They are permanently closed except for private parties.  Oh well.  It sure looked like a pretty place on their website.

Once we got home we walked into Redmond to go to Molly Moon's for ice cream.

George and Martin

On the way back we stopped at Trader Joes to pick up food for dinner.  Once we got back to the apartment Madeline and Roman stared fixing dinner.

Charisee had arrived by then.  Everyone else relaxed.

Luckily Seattle has not been quite as hot as Portland.

Roman, Madeline (not enough chairs so Madeline is sitting on the TV table).

We left Madeline's around 7:30 to head on up to Debbie's. The sun was going down.

It was a full day.

Home

The drive home was uneventful.  We left Debbie's bright and early, at 7:30 am.  I had somewhere to be at noon so we did not linger.

Saying Goodby to Nathan

We had a nice morning with a nearly 3 mile walk around the neighborhood.  I really struggle on the hills.

Then we took off to get Nathan to Bellingham to catch the ferry to Juneau.  First stop lunch
Busara's was very good Thai food.  No pictures.  I was hungry.

Then we went to Lake Padden to walk around.  Another 3 mile walk.  Very pretty location.

We drove into Bellingham to the ferry.  Nathan was told that the boarding would start about 3 pm and once his car was on the ferry then he could leave.  Just needed to be back on board by 5:30 pm.

his ferry

We decided to find a place to sit and have a glass of wine, to wait for him.
Not here.
but here

We found the Skylark Restaurant had an outdoor seating area.  Perfect weather to just sit out and relax.

with a close up.

Finally heard from Nathan that nothing was moving so we wandered back to visit with him for a little while.

We could not tell if he ever was going to move, though he now was at the front of the line.  It was 5:30 pm so we decided to leave him and go for dinner.
They have a lot of wines on tap

I had a very good veggie burger and a glass of Rioja (to prepare for Spain).  Then we headed home.  A long but relaxing day.
Nathan's sleeping arrangement.  He is camped out here for 3 days.  At least no one will step on him.  He texted when the ferry headed out, so he is on his way.

Drive to Mt Vernon

Thursday at 12:30 pm we drove to Bollywood Theater to meet Gretchen for lunch.  The food was delicious as usual.  Next stop, my neice Madeline's in Seattle.

We took her out to dinner, to a sushi place.  They assured me that there would be a non-sushi choice.  My chicken teriyaki and vegetable skeweres were delicious.  I also had a plum wine that was served on ice.

After dinner we went to Molly Moon's for ice cream

The traffic was terrible.  The last time we were at Madeline's apartment she was just moving in and so there were boxes every where.  This time she will be moving out this weekend, so there were boxex every where.  LOL.  She assured us that inbetween things were put away.

After dinner we drove on up to Debbie & Joe's.  We got here about 9:45 pm.  The traffic was not so bad after dinner.
