Pittock Mansion and Forest Park

Today we decided to go to Pittock Mansion and to walk a bit in Forest Park.

Shower, I couldn't fit in the shower head as well

The Forest Park Wildwood Trail

Then we went on to Robbie's place so that we could walk to the food carts which were close.

We all chose something different.  That was  fun.

Then we tried Salt & Straw again.  This time there was no line so we got right in.  Then I took Madeline to the Bolt Bus stop and then went grocery shopping and then home.  George took the rest of the gang to Powells before coming home.  We decided to eat at home tonight.  Dorothy made 2 kale and mushroom quiches and I made my roasted asparagus and manchego cheese dish and corn on the cob.  Just Nathan joined us for dinner.

Cannon Beach

Robbie and Nathan came over to our place this morning.  Once they got here we headed out to Cannon Beach.  We started out at Ecola State park.

We thought we would take the trail to Crescent Beach.  It was listed at 1¼ .  I think that they lied.  In fact I am sure of it.  The trail went up and down and around.  8779 steps later we reached the beach.  It was a nice beach.  I had never been to it before.

Nathan found a swing but couldn't get it untied.

I was not amused by the idea of the return hike.  So I decided to take the turn-off to Cannon Beach, Nathan came with me.  Everyone else went back to get the cars.  Nathan and I went a much easier walk into Cannon Beach.  We had a chance to find a restaurant and to sit and relax a while before everyone else showed up.

Great food Wild & Organic.  Last time I was here it was a tiny place with about 3 tables.  It has really expanded.
After lunch we walked around and poked in the shops.

Then we drove down to Haystack Rock

played in the tide pools

We left a little after 6 pm.  We were going to eat at Mingos in the Round.  We made a reservation for 8 pm.  Rebecca walked there to join us for dinner. We chose it so that Nathan & Robbie could get on the MAX right after dinner.  Since Robbie had been to Venice he was interested in the cicchetti.  But when we got there they could not seat us right away and they were out of the cicchetti, so we went  to the sushi place near there.  Miso Sushi

Some of us are not sushi eaters so we had the Bento boxes.  I had the teriyaki chicken.  It was good.

Long Day.  We got home a little after 10 pm.

Sunday, July 8

It was a quiet day today.  Church for some of us.  Dorothy went to 2 services.  A catholic service at St Cecilia's (which she was not impressed with) and then she went with Rebecca to her church out in Hillsboro.

After lunch Dorothy, Ed, Nathan & George went on a bike ride on the Garden Home trail.  It was pretty hot so they did not go for a very long ride.

I stayed home.  I did get a walk in.

Then we went to dinner near Nathan's home.  We ate at the Leaky Roof Pub.  It was very good.

Ed & Dorothy will get their picture in their local paper with this picture

George, Barbara, Charisee, Robbie, Madeline, Ed and Dorothy

I had the stuffed pork chop

We went to Nathan's and played a few games.  Then went up on the roof top.  Nice reflection.

The big news was that my niece had her baby.  She came about 1 month early but the family is all okay.
Little baby, Ella.

Home again

We had our morning neighborhood walk.  We came back to Debbie's and packed up and left.  Our goal had been 9 am but 9:15 wasn't too far off.

We drove to Madeline and Roman's place.

Ed & Madeline took the Bolt bus to Portland. We picked up Dorothy.  We had a late lunch at Jeremy's.  We dropped Nathan off at his place and when we got home Madeline & Ed had just arrived.  Rebecca had done a nice job with pet care.  We had a brief time at home before we headed out again.  We had to go in 2 vehicles.  We stopped at Nathan's so that Dorothy, Ed & Madeline could see his place and to pick him up.  We drove to Robbie and Charisee's place.  We had a tour there as well.  They had just gotten all there stuff from Chicago and are in process of putting it away.  We picked up our stuff that they had borrowed.  Then we walked to our dinner place.

We ate at Sivalai Thai Restaurant.  It was close enough to walk to.  It was a very nice night for a stroll so we decided to walk to Salt and Straw ice cream.  That was a mistake.  There were 85 other people who had the same idea and they had all gotten there first.

So we dropped that idea.  Stopped at Fred Meyer and bought ice cream to take back to Robbie and Charisee's.
