Glendale

There is a nice France connection in this Airbnb.

We walked to Gio's bakery for breakfast.  Jamie met us there.

We walked to Sharon & Michael's.  Nathan gave Ella & Nicole each a paint by number kit.  They had fun with that.

We then went to Brace Canyon Park.

'

Time for lunch.  We went to Starbucks.  Ella and Nicole liked the grilled cheese sandwich.

We went to Jamie and Pam's so that they could get their pickleball gear.

We took Ella & Nicole home for nap time.  Then we went to play 2 hours of pickleball.  This time whichever team Jamie was on, won. George took all of the pictures.

Whew.  I was exhausted.

Jamie dropped us off at our place so that we could shower and change.  It had been hot playing pickleball.

We hung out for a while.  We played a couple of games with Ella & Nicole.  We ordered food from Cibo Thai food restaurant.  Pam and I went to pick it up.

It was tasty. George, Nathan, & I did family style but the rest of the gang each had their individual orders.

We did manage to fit in a game of cards before we all left.

A lot of places have their Halloween lights or decorations up.

Portland to Glendale

Nathan, George, Rebecca, and I left to go to the airport about 1:30 pm.  Traffic was slow.  Rebecca took the car home.  We had a 3 pm flight to Burbank which ended out being delayed.  The plane was at the airport but for some reason it could not get to the gate.  We had time to do some wine tasting and played a round of cards.

We finally took off around 6 pm and landed in the brand new Burbank airport around 7:30 pm.  It was a very rough landing.  Then the minor troubles began.  It seemed to take them awhile to figure out how to get the stairs to the doors.

It is a very nice looking airport but the signage was poor.

We had trouble finding out where to go to get the shuttle to the car rental area.  Then there seemed to be only one shuttle and so they had to pack as many people in it as they could.  One person got off because of claustrophobia.

"Move on back!"

Then once we got to the car rental place we didn't know how to find our car.  Whew.  But it all worked out.

Because it was so much later than we had planned we went to Jamie and Pam's, instead of Sharon and Michael's. Jamie and Pam had saved pizza for us.

We headed off to our Airbnb.  It is a cute place.  We got there a little after 10 pm.

It is a 2 bedroom 1 bathroom place.  It is close to Sharon & Michael's place.

Duluth, MN to Beaverton, OR

We had our coffee and breakfast at the Days Inn.  It was typical fare.  I got a message from Delta this morning that my flight to MSP was delayed 1/2 hour.  This was no big deal because I had a 3 hour layover in Minneapolis.

We walked to Target for Jeanne to get a few items which are not available in Ely.  It was about 1 mile to Target. The Days Inn is right across the street from the mall. The Target was down the street a ways.  There were no sidewalks so we had to go a longer way to get to it.  It felt good to walk.  I am not as sore as I thought that I would be.  Going up and down the stairs at the hotel was the only painful time.

We were looking at some other activity to do when I got the message from Delta that it was back to the original time.  We decided to go ahead and head to the airport.  Jeanne still had a 2 hour drive to get home.
Duluth International Airport.

I zipped right through security.  This time there was no line and I was not trying to transport the Zups secret seasoning.  Plus there were only about 3 people in front of me. They did have a TSA Pre✓ this time.  We got to MSP about 12:45 pm.  My gate was close.  I went ahead and got a smashburger since it was close and there was a table I could sit at.

Cool kids play area

I could have eaten at the Twins Bar and Grill and gotten a cheeseburger that was 4 times the cost.

My work station.

Art in the MSP airport.

Gosh, if I just had been more patient I could have eaten here instead.

It was an uneventful flight.  I watched "It was a Good Year," which was OK and part of "Book Club: The Last Chapter" I did get a free drink.

George met me and we got home about 6:40 pm.  Debbie had come down and she got here by 6:30 pm.  We went out to the Siam Lotus for dinner.

Sunset on our way home.
