Welcome Class of 68!! XUA

We left our house about 10 am and went to pick up Emmy. We had lunch at Jeremy's Table in Chahalis on our way.  As we were driving we kept noticing a shimmy with the car.  We would stop periodically to try to figure out what was going on.

Finally when we were about 10 minutes away from Fort Worden we stopped at a U-Haul place and checked again.  We saw a huge gash in one of the tires. Looked like someone had taken a bite out of it.  The woman at the U-Haul place helped us change the tire - no charge.

We were on our way, but we missed being at Fort Worden by 4 pm.  Luckily, Mike Spiller was on top of that.  He had check in and gotten the keys.

Shanta and Amanda had picked up Vivian.  Cam & Jennifer, Mike & Shannon, Paul Heusinkveld, Paul Zorn & Janet, Verle & Lois, Ted & Alla Hornoi-Centerwall, and Karen & Graham all drove in on their own from various directions.  Lou picked up Jewel at the airport.  He had rented a car.  Laura Servid dropped Don off.

We did not really have a dinner plan so we drove into Port Townsend and ate at some different restaurants.  George and I went with the group that went to Bayview.  Great view.  We could watch the ferry come and go.  David had a van and he met Elaine, Cheryl, Ted Scudder & Janet and Keith at SeaTac. They were the last to arrive.  29 people, 19 of our class.

We had a few mix-ups with the reservations but everything worked out.  Everyone had a place.  We had 3 duplexes and 1 house, called the bandmasters house.  It was wheelchair accessible.  That house was our gathering place to chat and to eat.  Things were a little confusing for awhile.  I had to go over to the check in office a few times, but we got things straightened out.   We had a chance to sit around and visit.  That was nice.  Several of the local people brought card tables and chairs and David brought a slew of camp chairs.  That was perfect.
