Lunch at the Sidedoor Cafe

Today was a day of shopping, walking on the beach and eating.\

We got to the beach in time to take a nice walk.

This log was not there last week.

Dinner was fabulous.  Sharon made a sausage spinach soup.  Sally made a cabbage apple salad and brought bread.  Yummy.

No it is not a full moon but it was pretty anyway.  

Betsy finally arrived around 9:30 pm.  So now we are all here.  

Beach weekend #2

Three of us met at the church at 10:30 am and went to pick up Sue in King City.  The other car started from Kris's.  We met at the Starbucks in Sherwood.  This is our usual stop when heading out to the beach.  The day had started out rainy but by the time we got to the Lange Vineyards it was clearing up.  Wine tasting there.  A few of us bought some wine.

Then we stopped at the Briar Rose Creamery to taste some delicious goad cheese.  Ended with a fabulous chocolate cheese truffle.  Wow.  Tasted like a little chocolate cheese cake.

The sign was confusing.  It said it was closed but we thought we would check it out.  It was open.

Then it was on to lunch at Barrel E18hteen.

Half a sandwich was just perfect.  

We went to the Lawrence Galley.  I lied last week. The Pieta is only $250,000!!.

Then we headed of to the beach.  No more stops.  

Sunday, Oct 26

Sunday was a much nicer day.  We got a nice walk on the beach which was not as windy as Friday.

If you look very carefully you can see the rainbow.  It was not a very bright one.  

After the storm yesterday there were a lot of jellyfish that had been washed ashore.

More foam out as well.  I guess it is caused by some algae. 

After our walk on the beach we had to start the packing process.  That takes longer than unpacking.  Trying to make sure that everyone remembered to take what they brought.  

I went home with Karen and Kari.  We stopped at the Otis Cafe for lunch before heading out.  Judy and Marsha joined us as well.  Uneventful drive home except that we drove though several downpours.  

Next week I will be at the beach again with a different group.  Same house.  I thought about leaving some of my stuff there but decided against it.  :-) .

Today was stormy and blustery.  I did not get my 10,000 steps in, that is for sure, After a leisurely morning we heading out to the outlet mall and then too lunch.

We said good-bye to Sue after lunch. Then some of us went back to the house and some did more shopping.

We had the fire going most of the day.

Supper was Italian sausage, pasta, salad and I made a baked acorn squash dish.  And, of course, cake!!

Beach Weekend #1

11 women were heading out to the beach for the first of 2 weekends.  Connie, Candy and I headed out around 10 am.  We had heard that a replica of the Pieta was at the Lawrence Gallery so that was our first stop.  Wow!! The Vatican authorized the making of 100 copies from a casting of the Pieta.  The Lawrence Gallery in podunck Oregon somehow managed to get one of them.  Amazing.  Quite a process making it.  Did the casting then made a mixture of marble and epoxy poured it in and centrifuged it until it filled in all the nooks and crannies.  So it is hollow.  The Lawrence Gallery can keep it until someone buys it.  Only some $750,000.  

Then we went to the restaurant that was across the street.  It used to be Uncorked and now it is Barrel E18HTEEN.  The way they spell it is intentional.  Very good food.  

It was rainy on Friday and very windy but not stormy.  That came later.

Gradually everyone started arriving.  The last person arrived at 7:30 pm.  We had already had started dinner when Sue arrive but we saved some for her.  We had vegetarian chili, cornbread, salad and a delicious chocolate cake.  All gluten free.  I did not miss the gluten.  After dinner some of us used the hot tub.  That was nice.  Then I am afraid that we stayed up too late talking and drinking.
