Monday Hike and Pontoon

After breakfast Jeanne and I went out to the Bear Head Lake State Park.  It was about a half hour drive.  The ranger said that the Norberg Trail was the best.  It was listed as 3 miles. No problem.  It started out flat.

But soon became rocky.  Jeanne did not have her walking stick.

We both had to be very careful.  We thought that we would be walking beside the lake.  We were, but there were trees between the path and the lake.  There were a couple of side trails we took to get down to the lake.

Bear Head Lake is a large lake.

The trail continued to pass Bear Head Lake and on to Norberg Lake.
There were some obstacles along the way.

Actual stairs down to the lake.

Norberg Lake is a very small lake.

Flowers, fungus, berries, and a dead stump.

It ended out being about a 4 mile walk.  We both were hot but we did not take our sweaters off because there were a lot of mosquitoes. I have been surprised that this morning was the first time that we have been bothered by them. I came home with a bunch of bites on the back of my neck.

We got home and fixed sandwiches for lunch. Jay ate with us.  It was perfect weather so we went out on the pontoon.
We got the cover off and loaded it up.

We were off.

Ahhh.

Jeanne and Jay brought all of their fishing gear.

They tried several locations.

I helped

I also had fun taking pictures.

Finally, Jay caught one!! He had to put it back since it was too small.  Proof that there are fish in the lake.

We heard that a thunder storm was to come in around 5 pm so we thought that we should head back to the house.

Jeanne was transferring the leaches to a different container.  Ugh!!

A photo of the rear view mirror.

Coming in to the dock.

We got the pontoon covered.  It was a good thing because it did start to rain about 5 pm.

I love these goldfinches.

It's a goldfinch party.

No fresh fish for dinner!! But we did have a delicious meal of meatballs, rice, and fresh green beans.

After dinner we relaxed with the TV.

Sunday

We got to church around 9:10 am so Jeanne and Jay could be there for choir practice. They had a guest preacher today.

The choir sounded very nice.

After church there is a small group that goes to the GEL for lunch.

I had a soup and 1/2 sandwich.

Later in the afternoon Jeanne and I headed out for our annual trip to the Kawishiwi Falls.

We got home just in time to go to a church event.  They do these small group gatherings.  This was a potluck.  We brought sloppy joes.  What a feast.

Lots of good desserts too.

Jeanne, Evelyn, Judy and Gail.

Judy, Gail, Heidi, Bobbi, and Jay.

We played a bible trivia game that I was terrible at.  But then so was everyone else. Well, some of us were worse than others.

We took Gail home and we saw this turtle scurrying across the road.  I managed to get a picture.  It was actually moving pretty quickly.

We did a lot of eating today.

Rainy Saturday

Cute deer this morning

Laura made French toast with the Challah bread she had made last night.  Jay fixed the sausage. Jeanne and I did a quick grocery run before breakfast.

Yummy French toast.

It was raining on and off all day.

Laura and Robbie practiced their cornets.  It is fun listening.

Jeanne and I went in to town to pick up a few more groceries after lunch.  While we were doing that everyone else started a game of Wyrmspan (another variant of Wingspan)

Laura got her paddle board put back in its bag.

Nice backpack carrier.

I've got the cat thing worked out now.
Laura & Wilhelm's cats: Night Furry and Fawkes

Ben & Erin's cats: Buster, Bennet, & Muddy.

Ben and Erin were very busy with packing and loading up the car.  Their goal was to leave around 3 pm.  It was 3:50 pm when they left.

But they were soon back.

They forgot their cats!! To top it off, one of the cats had escaped from the carrier so he had to be tracked down....again!

The bunny was watching them pack up.

Now Laura is the last one here.  She will leave tomorrow. The house is very quiet.  They all have invited me to join them in Florida next year for their spring break.  I am flattered.

Since it had stopped raining, Jeanne and I went out to harvest the beans.  Their beans seem to do very well.

We added some of these to the dinner plan.

Dinner was an enchilada casserole.  We chopped up toppings and made guacamole.

Since there were only 4 of us, we could eat out on the porch.

After dinner we watched Project Hail Mary.  They had all seen it before and really wanted to see it again.  It was cute with a lot of great special effects.
