Lincoln City - Friday

Sharon, Kris, Olivia, Judy, Barbara S, and I headed out to Lincoln City for our annual summer beach weekend.  We are missing Joyce but she is in Bahrain right now with her daughter and family.  We met at Sharon's at 10 am and packed up the 3 cars: Sharon went with Judy, Kris went with Olivia & I went with Barbara S.  First stop was Ponzi Vineyard.  What a gorgeous place.  It is a relatively new facility.

Olivia and Barbara S.  We shared 3 tastings.  So that the drivers could have tastes and the passengers could finish up the tastings.   I bought a bottle.

Then we headed off to Anam Cara which means Friends of the Soul.

Very good wines.  I bought a bottle.  By this time we were ready for lunch.  We went to The Recipe in Newberg.  We sat under a big cherry tree.  In hindsight we should have sat inside.  We were getting pretty hot by the time we left, in spite of the shade.  

Delicious meal.  I had the Croque Monsieur and a glass of wine.  I guess one of the hits was the cantaloupe gazpacho.  I did not have any, but Kris and Sharon raved about it.

Then we headed off to Domaine de Broglie.  We had been to this place before but it had changed hands, so we wanted to check it out.  It was a beautiful location.  

But once we got there and thought about it, we all decided that we just wanted to head off to the beach.  So, no more tastings.  Sharon and Judy stopped at Safeway to pick up some dinner.

The house we were going to stay at had some kind of flooding situation.  I got a call a week ago about this.  They said that the house was not ready for us and would we mind being upgraded to a different house with no additional cost.  I said OK.

What a fabulous house.  We got here about 5 pm.  It is a 3 bedroom, 4 bathroom place with a huge living room and a sitting room, beach front property.  Very classy place with not the typical beachy decor.  Too bad that we will never be able to come here again.  It is way out of our price range. But we will certainly enjoy it.

We pulled out our appetizers and wine.  After a while we decided that we would just eat appetizers and save the dinner that Sharon and Judy bought, for the next night.

We went on an evening stroll.

We wanted to be back to the house in time for sunset.

Once there was no view any more we came in and I did a slide show of our Montreal-Quebec City trip.

Monday travel day

We had an early start this morning, no breakfast or walk.  We left Debbie and Joe's at 7 am.  We had such a nice time.

We met Dorothy, Ed & Madeline at Victor's coffee shop for breakfast.  

Then we went to Marymore Park to walk around.  It was a dog friendly park.

This is a baby blue heron.  Apparently it is dying. So sad.  No one is doing anything, just letting nature take its course.

Then we walked through a community garden.  It was very well maintained.  Each section was quite different.

We took Dorothy, Ed and Madeline back to Madeline's place.  We had to get going.  We wanted to be back in Beaverton by 2 pm.  When we started out our GPS said we would get there at 1:50 pm.  But it was not surprising that that changed.  Plus, we had to stop for gas and restroom.  It had started to rain by this time.  It rained pretty steadily our whole drive.  It cleared up by the time we got to Portland.

George dropped me off at Jeanne Reinhardt's at 2:20 pm, so that I could go on my next event. George went on home.

Sunday Funday

When we arrived at Debbie and Joe's I was asking about the fall colors.  

I guess it was just the way the sunset was hitting the trees because now there are no fall colors.

Joe was showing George all about the state of his vehicles.  All the parts - motor and all - are out and are spread out all over.  Well labeled, of course.  I don't how he will get it all back together, but he is confident. 

After our breakfast and morning walk we headed off to the Arlington street fair.  It was fun to see what they were selling.  We did not buy anything. 

Then it was time for lunch.  We found Kafe Neo Woodstone Taverna.  It was a Mediterranean restaurant.  It was good, but slow service.  

I had falafel and salad.

After lunch we went to run some errands and then stopped for a beer at the Ale Spike Brewery.

I had a Firecracker Amber and George had a hard cider.

They have converted a large storage shed into a brewery.

I had a chance to show my Montreal and Quebec City pictures.  That was fun.

Debbie and I relaxed on the deck. 

Then we got everyone out relaxing. 

By this time it was getting to be dinner time.  Joe drove us into Mt Vernon to Pyeong Chang, a Korean BBQ restaurant where Debbie knew the owner.

We ordered the combo meal for 3-4 people.  I don't see how 3-4 people could have eaten all that food.  But we sure tried.
