Kodai to Mumbai

 

We couldn't lollygag this morning.  We asked for an early breakfast since our car was coming to pick us up at 8 am.  

I had my usual.  The fruit this morning was papaya, pineapple and apple.  I ate the papaya.  

We did our last minute packing and then went to pay our bill. We had to do it with the QR code. The laundry bill was separate from the hotel bill. 

We were on the road by 8:20 am.  It was a 3 1/2 hour drive to Madurai.  It was nice sharing the vehicle with Ros and Carolyn.

We made a quick petrol stop.

They were planting bushes in the divided highway.  I think that they are Oleanders

To slow traffic down they put this barricades in the road to make traffic either go one at a time it if was a 2 lane and just slow down if it is a divided road.

They had a lot of them.  

We got to the airport around 11:30 am.  Very complicated system. Have to show your passport and ticket even to get into the airport.  Then have you checked bag scanned. Then we went to the ticket agent to get our boarding pass and to actually check our bags.  I hope our luggage goes on the same plane as we go on.  Then we had to go through security. Women go one way and the men go the other way.  They did not like my tea kettle or all of my charging wires.  I should have put those things in my checked bag.   

We had a long wait, so we went to hang out in the food court.  Luckily, we had Internet on our phones.  

This is like the lounge room, you do need to request it and probably pay for it.  But they had comfortable chairs in there so I was tempted.  The chairs here are the worst!!

We ordered a mix veg pizza and coke.

It was an unusual pizza with BBQ sauce, lots of cheese and corn. They also brought ketchup to put on top??? 

Our flight was delayed slightly.  Only about 20 min.  Don and Carla met us at the airport.  They had a different flight.  They were going to Chennai.  But their flight was cancelled.  Argh.  I guess Don was able to change to a different flight to Chennai.  They had a long enough lay-over in Chennai that they think they will be ok for the rest of their trip.  

Ros and Carolyn each got to where they were going.

Sanjay from Compass picked us up at the airport.  It was about an hour drive to the hotel.  We got all checked in and connected with Rebecca to make a plan for tomorrow.  

This is a nice hotel but not over the top like the Radisson in Chennai.
