We were up at Oh-Dark-30 this morning to get to the airport. We picked up Nathan about 4:45 am. Since we were parking in the long term parking lot we had to leave a little earlier than usual. Nathan was flying Southwest to Phoenix then Chicago and we were flying Alaska non-stop to Chicago.
Portland Airport. I had a chance to buy my coffee and an oatmeal before we boarded. Nathan left before we did. We left about 1/2 hour late but made up the time. We had taken lunch for the plane.
Chicago airport.
We took the train to the rental car place. It took about 1 1/2 hour for us to get to the rental car place and to get our car. Nathan had some delays in Phoenix.
Driving past downtown Chicago
Entering Indiana
Our first stop at a travel plaza. It was tolls the whole way. $7.50 a pop. Argh. $25.51
Spring hasn't Sprung here yet.
There were a bunch of signs about the eclipse. The first one was something like "pull-over if you want to take a picture of the eclipse" (I did not get a picture).
The next Travel Plaza stop was for dinner.
Nathan had been delayed in Phoenix. He did not land in Chicago until 7 pm. Robbie and Martin were picking him up.
I had fun trying to take sunset pictures.
We pulled into the Maumee Bay State Park, Oregon (that's right), Ohio about 9 pm. We went to the lodge to get directions to the cottages. We were greeted by this raccoon. Apparently he hangs out by the lodge trash can.
We went to Cottage 4 where Dorothy, Ed, George Singer and Amelia (his daughter) are staying. Madeline, Roman and Ivan had arrive shortly before us. They are staying in the lodge with the raccoon. We visited for a while and then went to our cottage #16. I will take pictures tomorrow. It was dark when we got here. Nathan, Robbie and Martin expect to arrive about 2:30 am.
It is a nice cottage.
